Professional Bio

After I lost my passion for playing professional poker, I found a new one in software development. Both require critical thinking, problem solving, and can result in the exhilaration of success. But programming comes with the satisfaction of helping both the client and the world at large. I've built software that makes it easy to sign an NDA, helps carriers track their cargo, and lets people catch a ride. I'm smart, committed and reliable, and I love working in Ruby on Rails for its ease of use and ability to rapidly prototype and build MVPs. I enjoy riding my motorcycle, playing table tennis, and meditating.

Employment History

FullStack Labs Aug 2020 - Present

Software Developer

At FullStack Labs, I'm focused on delivering quality applications using a combination of Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, JQuery, MySQL, PostgresSQL, MongoDB, and other technologies.

Picap Nov 2019 - May 2020

Senior Ruby on Rails Developer

Picap is a Colombia logistics company that helps people and things get from place to place. As a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer, my work included:

  • Developing Píddelo, an app that lets people order products from local markets to be delivered to their homes. Along with a team of about 15 developers, I implemented new features like Elasticsearch, information on product discounts, and estimated shipping times. I also implemented a TimeFrame model for scheduling deliveries and driving services. Ruby on Rails and MongoDB were the primary technologies.
  • Implementing Open Source Machine Routing to improve routing and time estimation for rides. I used Ruby on Rails, OpenStreetMap, and Apache Kafka.
Bogotá Dev Feb 2019 - Nov 2019

Software Developer

Bogotá Dev offers web development services for individuals, and small and large businesses around the world. As a Software Developer, I:

  • Worked on a team of three to build PlainVanilla, an NDA contract negotiation portal. Using Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery, I implemented WebSockets into the platform so users could place signatures and make live updates. I handled storage of the generated PDFs in AWS S3, and the app itself was deployed on Google Cloud with Capistrano.
  • Developed FloridaDrayage, a point-of-sale app for shipping companies using Ruby On Rails, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery, with a team of three devs.
Start IT Jun 2017 - Aug 2018

Junior Web Developer

Start IT provides corporate web development services. As a Junior Web Developer, I:

  • Worked as part of a three-person team to build an Enterprise Resource Planning program that included a CRM, e-commerce capabilities, email marketing, and a CMS using Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Installed SSL certificates on client domains.
