Client Testimonials

The experience I've had with other firms is in direct contrast to what FullStack did. I'm comparing them with two other firms I worked with in the past. They care a lot about what their clients are doing. They bring their ideas and concepts to the table. I felt like they were on my team. They added a lot of value in terms of ideas and continue to do so. No matter who's working on the project you feel like they care about the work that's being produced.

- Rob Burns -
President, Bunk 1

FullStack Labs' managers have been engaged throughout. The whole project management staffing, matching team to task has been fantastic. All their staff is very committed. I'm very aware of how much bureaucracy there is in the tech world, and we've gotten nothing but solutions. I am totally happy with their approach to everything, their integrity, honesty, the whole thing. It's great.

- Executive Director -
Valley CAN

We were very happy with the way the whole process was facilitated. We started talking to FullStack Labs three months before we signed any contract with them. We met with them in person several times. We wanted to find out what their philosophy is. Both Brian and David are fathers with young children, so they understand the importance of the work we are doing. That shows through in their work. It was obvious they cared deeply.

15 Questions to Ask When Hiring a Ruby on Rails Consultancy

1. How much experience do you have working with Ruby on Rails?

Consultancies often suggest that they have more experience than they do, so it’s a good idea to ask them for specifics: How many projects have they worked on? How many Ruby on Rails developers do they have available for hire?

FullStack Labs developers have consulted on 20 Ruby on Rails projects.

2. What is the makeup of your Ruby on Rails portfolio?

Once you’ve figured out how many projects the Ruby on Rails consultancy has completed, ask them about their biggest projects. You should also find out if they have experience working on projects related to your industry.

You can find a few examples of Ruby on Rails consultations that FullStack Labs has worked on in the past on our dedicated portfolio page.

3. How do you find your Ruby on Rails Consultants?

Consultancies need a strong recruitment program in order to hire the best of the best.

Because FullStack Labs has such a good reputation in the field, the best Ruby on Rails Consultants usually come to us.

Some of our Ruby on Rails projects we’ve developed for a variety of clients are Ekso Bionics, Bunk1, and Gemini

Our Ruby on Rails meetups and conferences make our brand even stronger.

Additionally, our recruitment team uses a variety of strategies to proactively attract new Ruby on Rails developers. Our years of experience in the field enable us to build a network of tens of thousands of developers which we use to staff new projects.

4. What is your hiring process?

The FullStack Labs application process is very thorough. It involves six steps:

  • We first assess a candidate’s qualifications in a 15-minute interview over the phone.
  • Candidates must get a passing score on our general computer skills test.
  • The second interview goes deeper — we spend about 90 minutes talking to the candidate about their past experience in order to get a better idea of their skillset and their working style.
  • Candidates take a coding assessment which is then graded by our CTO.
  • Our CTO or CIO interviews the candidate. We do a background check and talk to their references.

5. Do you charge your clients by time spent or by the project?

FullStack Labs utilizes both charging models for Ruby on Rails consultations.

FullStack Labs doesn’t charge on a daily or weekly basis; instead, our employees use Toggl to track how many hours they spend on each project. You can learn more about why we charge by the hour here.

6. What are your hourly rates for Ruby on Rails engagements?

It’s a good idea to ask about fees early on in your search for a Ruby on Rails consultant.

You can find the full FullStack Labs rate card on our FAQ page, but here are a few examples:

a. Rates for Ruby on Rails consultants based in Latin America:

  • $40 - Junior Ruby on Rails Consultant
  • $50 - Mid-level Ruby on Rails Consultant
  • $60 - Senior Ruby on Rails Consultant
  • $70 - Architect Ruby on Rails Consultant

7. How do you staff your consulting teams?

Consultancies use different strategies for putting together a team.

A Ruby on Rails consulting team at FullStack Labs typically contains:

  • Two or three Ruby on Rails consultants
  • A part-time Project Manager
  • A part-time Quality Assurance Professional
  • A part-time Designer

We are happy to put together a blended team when clients want to fill a few of the positions themselves.

8. What sorts of guarantees do you provide to your clients?

Engaging a Ruby on Rails Consultancy is a big decision, so it’s understandable that you would want to know what protections you have built into your contract.

When you hire FullStack Labs for your Ruby on Rails projects, you have two weeks to try out your Ruby on Rails Consultants. If they’re not a good fit, we’ll replace them with alternatives. If you want to cancel your contract before the two weeks are up, we won’t charge you.

9. Do you require long-term commitments?

Many Ruby on Rails Consultancies will ask you to sign long-term contracts, so it’s important to ask about your right to cancel.

At FullStack Labs, we allow our clients to cancel all projects, as long as they give us a 30-day notice.

10. Can you provide references?

References can tell you a lot about what you can expect from a Ruby on Rails Consultancy.

Many FullStack clients have shared in-depth testimonials of their experience working with us. You can find comments from clients as well as brief explanations of the projects on our references page.

11. How long will it take to get my project up and running?

The time it takes us to set up your team depends on how many Ruby on Rails Consultants your project requires.

FullStack Labs can usually set you up with one or two consultants within a week or two, but it can take about four weeks to put together a larger team.

12. How many Ruby on Rails consultants can I hire at once?

It’s difficult for smaller consultants to staff big projects.

FullStack Labs has worked on many big projects in the past. We can provide up to 12 Ruby on Rails Consultants per month.

13. Do you have other types of professionals on staff?

Smaller consultancies typically have a more limited variety of professionals.

FullStack Labs, on the other hand, has an extensive technical bench. We have quality assurance engineers, project managers, UI/UX designers, architects, business analysts, DevOps specialists, and more.

14. How will my Ruby on Rails Consultants communicate with me?

Good communication is crucial to the success of a Ruby on Rails project.

FullStack Labs developers communicate with each other and with their clients over Slack and Zoom.

They also have daily and weekly meetings, which clients are welcome to attend.

FullStack Labs requires all associates to be fluent in English.

15. How do you plan and estimate new apps?

It’s important to have a meticulously planned playbook for designing new apps.

FullStack Labs uses a comprehensive approach to staffing projects and building new apps, which you can learn more about in our playbook.
