Bestest

The Review

BACKGROUND

Tell me about your business and your role within the organization?

We are a start-up mobile social polling technology, available on the App Store and Google Play.

In short, Bestest is an Instagram-style feed where every post is a poll. The app exists for live audience voting, public opinion-gathering, and group decision-making.

The buzzword most commonly associated with Bestest is “addictive.”

OPPORTUNITY

What challenge were you trying to address with FullStack Labs?

We developed the beta version of Bestest in India — it proved the app concept and functionality, and helped us raise capital from investors. After loads of marketing testing and an intensive work session involving various tech experts, we decided to completely retool our app for the alpha version. The technology stack we decided upon required a very specific skill set, which we found stateside. Unfortunately, our stateside developers took three times longer and cost three times more than we expected. Deadlines passed and the app still wasn’t ready. Time kept going and we continued to burn through precious capital.

It was at this point that we found FullStack Labs, bringing them an application that was 90 percent done but stalled at the one yard-line. I’m pleased to report that FullStack Labs was able to bring Bestest into the end-zone, scoring massive points with users, investors and the rest of our team.

SOLUTION

What is the scope of our involvement?

Our Company’s mantra is Bestest Technology, Bestest People (users, team and partners), Bestest Brand and Bestest Self. Until we found FullStack Labs, though, we were missing a pretty foundational part: the technology.

What is the team composition?

One project manager and three developers. Team size would flex as we needed.

Although we brought the UI / UX design to FullStack Labs, we still sought insight from their Design Director, Brian. Brian is extremely technical, design-oriented, and a huge asset to the team. We would go to him with our most egregious challenges that couldn’t be resolved internally and Brian would provide insight and perspective that would resolve the issue and allow us to keep moving forward.

How did you come to work with us?

Internet search. FullStack Labs was the only prospective partner that didn’t come to us by referral.

We chose to have a relationship with them because of their project management framework (which was flexible to our needs), their business perspective, their itemized, automated reports which provided complete billing transparency, their raw talent and ability, and their experience in facing problems and knowing how to overcome them.

How much time has been invested?

2,872 hours.

What is the status of the engagement?

Started in April of 2018 and is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The fact that we have an app that is available to the public and have amassed over 16,000 users (who have cast more than 1.2 million votes in the app) in only five months. I should mention that 50 percent of those users joined in just the last 60 days.

How did we perform from a project management standpoint?

Mike was an outstanding project manager with great technical skills, recommendations, and immediate command of the app; Miguel brought a lot of value in team management and driving output.

What did you find most impressive about FullStack Labs?

We interviewed a lot of companies. FullStack Lab's skills matched our technology stack perfectly: React.js, React Native, and Node.js. Plus, they deliver the perfect combination of USA-based technical project managers with cost-effective nearshore software developers.
The FullStack Labs team is extremely professional and requires little management.

Are there any areas of improvement?

No. Just keep hiring more devs so Bestest and other clients can have access to them!

Bestest is an Instagram-style social polling application that allows live voting, public opinion gathering, and group decision-making. Bestest came to FullStack Labs with an Alpha version of their application that they’d built with another consultancy, and enlisted our help to finish the beta version of the application, and provide ongoing development support post-launch. The app is currently live on iOS and Android, and we’re excited to currently be working on additional features and enhancements.
