Professional Bio

From a young age, I've been drawn to the challenge of computers and technology. I studied Systems Engineering at Universidad Simon Bolivar and after graduating, began work as a web developer and software engineer, a job that presents me with new challenges on every project. I have extensive experience in health care, having built applications that allow Aetna Health users to discover the costs of medical procedures, exoskeleton users to monitor the data from their auxiliary bones, patients to review the bedside manner of their caregivers, and service providers to track the progress of patients who have received total joint replacement. I love the versatility of JavaScript but I'm most at home when I'm writing in Ruby, which I admire for its flexibility and ease of use. When I'm not undertaking new coding projects, I love to play soccer.

Employment History

FullStack Labs May 2017 - Present

Software Architect

As a Software Architect at FullStack, I've had the pleasure of consulting on a variety of project. Currently I'm focused on:

  • Developing a Django API for Esko Bionics, a company that develops human exoskeletons. The API receives the skeletons' binary-encoded data, which is securely stored and processed in the background to extract usage stats on the machine and patient stats in near-realtime.
  • Providing multilevel support for Wambi, a patient-focused platform that allows patients to review their caregivers. Currently I'm building the app's main patient portal in Next.js and maintaining legacy elements of the software written in Laravel. I also added a moderation and review feature to a React app that allows users to send postcards, as well as transformed a static homepage into one that loads dynamically.

Previously I:

  • Lead development and project management for AdAction, a mobile advertising and user acquisition platform. I oversaw development of the app's ETL pipeline in Ruby, which processed data from third-party sources in multiple storage formats to generate a single aggregated database of statistics. I also optimized heavy SQL queries that significantly reduced load times.
  • Developed ClassicFlix, a Netflix-like web application written in Ruby on Rails that allows users to rent classic movies via DVD mail delivery.

Muve Health August 2016 - March 2017

Web Developer

Muve Health specializes in total joint replacement for patients with severe joint conditions. As a Web Developer at Muve, my duties included:

  • Building the application's entire back end. I integrated Camunda into a Ruby on Rails API and also introduced a versioning system.

WellMatch Health January 2014- March 2016

Web Developer

WellMatch Health was an Aetna subsidiary that provided cost transparency for health products and services. While at WellMatch, my duties included:

  • Developing and maintaining an app that let users see the deductibles and costs of procedures based on their health care plans. The app's back end was built with Ruby on Rails and the front end was built with Ember.js.
