How much you can expect to make as a React Native developer—or how much you can expect to pay one you're hiring—depends a lot on where you're looking.

Table of contents

Some sites let you search by geography, others by years of experience, others by the tech stack, and so on. Others don't let you search for any of that, forcing you to sift through the broad category of "mobile developer" postings.

If you're a React Native Developer in the United States wondering what you're worth or a recruiter thinking about what to offer, we searched five different jobs and salary sites to give you a sense of what you can anticipate.

Stack Overflow

Stack Overflow's salary calculator comes from its annual developer survey and lets users winnow its statistics based on specific technologies used, years of education, and location. It serves up the 25th, 50th, and 75th percentiles of what developers with those criteria earn. We looked at the United States generally for React Native developers with bachelor's degrees and focused on the 50th percentile.

According to Stack Overflow, React Native developers earn between $83,000 for those starting out to $115,000 for those with 15 years of experience.

ZipRecruiter

Years of experience, education level, and tech stack are not options on ZipRecruiter, but geography and seniority are. We looked at the average pay rate for both React Native developers ($106,754) and Senior React Native developers ($109,799).

Glassdoor

Glassdoor allows a range of options in its salary search tool, including location and ranges of years of experience, like 0-1 years, 1-3 years, and so on. We took an average of the high and low estimates for React Native devs in the United States.

According to Glassdoor, entry-level React Native developers can expect to be paid $72,097, while those with 15 years of experience earn an average of $117,577.

PayScale

PayScale offers one of the most specific salary search tools. Users can search not only by job title, but also certifications, the job title they held five years ago, the size of the company they work for, and so on, down to the details most people don't even consider. Searching by country isn't an option, so we looked at React Native developers in Austin, Texas with a Bachelor's Degree in the market for a "Mobile Applications Engineer" job and React Native as a required skill.

We averaged the high and low estimates PayScale provided for each year of experience. Inexperienced developers start at $71,500, and those with upper-level seniority can expect $120,500.

Indeed

Indeed only allows the most basic searches, eliminating refinements by skillset, years of experience, and everything else. We searched under the broad moniker of "Mobile Developer", and its result, $125,314, was the highest of any all the sites we surveyed, likely correlating with experienced developers living and working in pricey cities. Accordingly, we've left it out of our final average tally at the end of this post.

Final results

Smoothing out all the swings from site to site, this is what a React Native developer can expect to earn based on their years of experience:

React Native Developer Salaries, July 2020

Years of experience Zip Recruiter GlassDoor PayScale Stack Overflow Average
0-1 - $72,097 $62,500.00 $84,000.00 $72,866
1-3 - $83,859 $76,000.00 $87,000.00 $82,286
4-6 $106,854 $101,378 $94,166.67 $93,000 $98,850
7-9 $109,799 $104,337 $106,500.00 $99,000.00 $104,909
10-14 $109,799 $110,411 $115,800.00 $108,400.00 $111,103
15+ $109,799 $117,577 $120,500.00 $115,000.00 $115,719

We combined years of experience and averaged them out to get a figure for each year range (for example, the salary of a React Native developer on Stack Overflow at 4 years, 5 years, and 6 years were averaged to get the figure for those with 4-6 years of experience). Given the anomaly of Indeed's results, its salary predictions were omitted from these results.

Overall, junior React Native developers earn about $72,866, and senior React Native developers earn about $115,719.

All of this can change according to geography, company size and type, and what kind of work the company is hiring for, and the urgency with which the company needs to fill the position. Bear in mind as well that these are simply averages, which means that roughly 50% of developers will earn more than the average, and 50% will earn less.

But if you're an HR director just getting your bearings or a developer wondering what you’re worth salary wise, this information above is a good place to start.

We have a large team of React Native developers available, both on-shore and off-shore, to build your solution. If what you read above has you interested in joining our team, please visit our Careers page.

I manage and directly contribute to many different departments within the company, including recruiting and hiring, marketing and sales, bookkeeping and accounting, tax and legal, and general operations. I take a hands on approach to management, meaning I prefer to roll up my sleeves and work directly on projects, instead of managing through meetings, policy, and bureaucracy. Prior to FullStack Labs, I was Vice President of Sales and Partner at CAE, where we built an industry-leading marketplace for buying and selling used capital equipment. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the California State University Sacramento with a degree in Business Administration.
